Will you be my quarantine?

'Aren't you both bored of sitting in home since 3 months?' Often I get this from my friends and family since the beginning of quarantine. The answer is, 'Of course, we do!'

It is a little over 6 months since the time we got married. We had started getting the hang of married life when the pandemic stuck. And now it seems like we are in a honeymoon period since forever.

Like all the couples getting married, we did have a big list of things to do post marriage. We had agreed upon a big checklist to accomplish in the 1st year. Exotic vacations, late night movie dates, moving to our own home, family visits, getting a pet dog and so on. And here we are stuck in a tiny space binge watching the same fantasy superhero movies he plays in loop every single day. Looks like the remaining 6 months will pass doing the same!

With nowhere to go and nobody else to socialize with, eventually you tend to learn a lot of things about each other. Friendship grows more stronger as we try new ways to keep one another entertained. Rock paper scissor championships, random cook offs, evening walks, Saturday grocery run, sharing household chores, teaching him nursery rhymes, late night movie marathons and exchanging funny slang words of our mother tongue have become an integral part of our quarantine days.

He being a foodie gives me an opportunity to try all my experiments on him. Though from his expressions I can clearly sense that in his mind he is visualizing a pizza every time he sees a dosa on plate. Late night cravings and the random conversations with mango milkshakes when the outside world is sleeping is something that we always look forward to everyday.

There are times when we are sitting in the same room working or doing something, yet not having a conversation for hours. We do believe that it's very important for us to respect silence in a relationship. If Im comfortable sitting with you in silence means I really love your company. I need not keep yapping all the while to just get a reaction out of you. Comfortable silence is luxury and a blessing, that has kept us going for so long without having a fight or getting frustrated in this lockdown.

In these negative times, Im happy that we are able to have depth and laughter in everyday. Having playful and profound conversations, understanding each others priorities, respecting one another's personal space and helping each other to grow and flourish in whatever we do is all that we have gained and absolutely love about this quarantine.
