As I write this blog today, I turn 29!

And then there was a sudden adrenaline rush. I only have 12 more months left of being in my 20's, have I made enough of it yet? Turning 29 also means, I won't be treated as a little girl at home, I won't be the young one in the 20's for my teammates at workplace, I cant stop the kids in the apartment from calling me, auntie! And then we have a whole different society asking the same thing over and over again, "So, when are you having a baby?"

Millions of motivational quotes and feel-good stories reinforce that ‘age is just a number’. I know. Yet, the thought of turning 29 gives me a slight chill deep down.

Having said all these, there is something special about the 29th birthday. It marks the nearing end of one great chapter and the start of a next one. There are definitely a bunch of things to embrace for me in the current chapter. If I have to name of few, I have passed out of an Engineering college, have an interesting job in hand, my childhood friends are still strong with me, made a group of new close friends for lifetime, went on a bunch of vacations, moved to a different city, learned to cook for myself and of course found the love of my life.

There are 29 things to do before you turn 30, they say. I did go through a couple of such lists. To my surprise, I see that I have accomplished a majority of them and those of which I haven't, you know 12 months are still in hand.

The fact that we are all locked up in a lockdown, I have nothing to do and nowhere to go. I lay back on my couch with my book having a piece of homemade cake and a sip of hot coffee. As I do so the thoughts of turning 29 subsides within.
