It is Sept 5 today. A day to remember and acknowledge all those great teachers who played a role in shaping who we are today.
Although teachers' day comes every year, it is in the schools that the this day is celebrated with all the pomp and ceremony. Its been 13 long years I graduated from my school but the memories of teacher's day remains still fresh in my heart. It was a tradition that the whole class would give roses to their teachers. And then the teachers would preserve those roses and wear them to school for the whole of September. There wouldn't be any formal classes and the seniors would get a chance to teach the younger classes. A delicious sweet for afternoon lunch followed by cultural programs and games, what more to ask for.
Each one of us have come across a variety of teachers in our life. Let me guess a few. An over enthusiastic one, stylish one, soft-spoken one, strict one, partial one, a load speaker, funny one, angry one, tired one and the one with gossips. If Im not wrong, you can think of one teacher from your school days in each of the category mentioned above, right?
Our school days are never complete without these classic dialogues from our teachers, what say? I want pin drop silence in my class. Is this fish market? You think teachers are fools? Is this why your parents send you to school? Good question, I will get back to you. If you are not interested, you may leave the class. Please share the joke with us, even we will laugh. And then the father of all the dialogues, This is the worst batch I have ever taught!
Throughout one's life we come across a bunch of teachers and mentors. Yet there are a few whom you really get moved by. They bring the best out of you and will be the reason why the way you're today. I give due credits to the 2 of my absolute favorite school teachers for most of my habits today. One is my LKG teacher, Shaila miss. My first ever teacher, a lady with a beautiful smile and warmth in her eyes teaching alphabets and rhymes every single day. My passion for teaching kids in different NGO's comes from her. Second teacher whom I totally adore is my 10th standard class teacher who is now the Principal of my school, Abhilasha miss. Her wisdom, depth of knowledge, attitude towards life has inspired many including me. It was her who encouraged me to develop a love for reading and writing articles and books. Having a vision and a clear plan in everything I do comes from her. I believe all of us will have one or more such great teachers. Please comment below and let me know, who that is for you. This is the day to embrace them.
